Beata is a Polish female artist based in Dublin, Ireland who uses photography and film making as her way of studying the natural world. Her work highlights the hidden beauty of wild flora’s aesthetics, study of herbalogy, and the importance of those plants. It is a combination of a number of scientific and social characteristics as a means to discuss our current relationship with nature from an image making perspective and as an ecological imperative. Hidden beauty of plants depicts an investigation of Polish and Irish wild flora through microscopic lenses using both photography and film making. The exhibition highlights the similarities between wild Polish flora and Irish flora. A collective approach of plants from both Ireland and Poland shows diaspora of an artist’s Polish family and from where an artist’s interest around botany and nature came from. The whole exhibition symbolises the beauty of time, where both fresh plants and compressed plants were studied through both the microscope and the dark room where plants’ aesthetics were studied through different light exposures.
